Welcome to My Fitness and Nutrition Journey
I’m Charlotte, and I’m excited to share my progress, tips, and experiences as I build strength, improve nutrition, and balance it all with a busy life. Documenting my fitness journey has been on my mind for a while, and now, it’s finally happening!
As someone who’s been exploring fitness, nutrition, and personal growth over the last few years, I’ve realized that sharing this journey could be valuable. Not just for me, but for anyone else trying to navigate their own fitness and nutrition path.
How I Started My Fitness Journey
Turning Point at 30
I turned 30 in 2021 and felt lazy. Hitting that milestone made me reflect on what the next decade and beyond would look like. One thing I decided to prioritize for my future self was health. Imagining “elderly me” was an interesting exercise that brought a lot into focus. That reflection also made me realize how little I knew about fitness, macros, or the value of strength training.
Finding Motivation Through Others
Around this time, I started dating a cute guy who did CrossFit as a hobby. His commitment to regular exercise impressed me. It was strange but refreshing to see someone who genuinely enjoyed working out. To me, exercise always felt like a chore.
Taking Action with a Personal Trainer
I decided to make a change and connected with a fantastic personal trainer named Jenna. I found her on Instagram and discovered she worked at a woman-owned gym called Elite Fitness. Nervously, I reached out and explained that I wanted to give “working out” a try. I didn’t have any specific goals. My main focus was simply to walk into a gym without feeling overwhelmed or intimidated.
Building Confidence and Making Progress
Starting with Strength Training
Working with a personal trainer for a few weeks was empowering. I was shocked at how much my body ached from doing seemingly simple lifting exercises. But instead of feeling discouraged, I felt motivated to push myself even further.
Joining CrossFit and Full Range Fitness
After working with Jenna, I signed up for CrossFit. From there, my fitness journey took off. Joining the CrossFit Providence and later the Full Range Fitness communities boosted my confidence. I also started working with a nutritionist to learn how to gain muscle and lose body fat. Over time, I fell in love with my workout routine, made steady progress on my goals (see below), and grew closer to that aforementioned cute guy (now my fiancé!).
Creating My Own Workout Routine
Today, I’ve developed my own gym workout routine. I enjoy trying new things and challenging myself. But I also know there’s still so much more to learn on this fitness and nutrition journey.
Why I Started This Blog
I’m building this blog as a space to share my progress, struggles, successes, and lessons learned throughout my fitness and nutrition journey. I’m not a fitness guru or a nutrition expert. Instead, I’m a regular person learning, experimenting, and trying to improve.
I hope this blog becomes a helpful resource for anyone who feels overwhelmed by juggling too many responsibilities to focus on their health. For me, that means balancing a demanding job with my fitness and nutrition goals while also finding time for creativity and rest.
